In the USA, they often are. True Canadian bacon, IIRC, is made from back cuts, which are usually leaner, instead of belly cuts (like it
is in the US).
It's also rolled in cornmeal and called Peameal bacon. We buy the big peameal chunks when they go on sale.
While I got to try real Canadian bacon while I was up there, I didn't find
a chance to try the peameal bacon. I was on the lookout for it. ;)
