Was thinking of fabricating a styrofoam
cooler and coiling the pump water hose to the pool through it filled with ice.
Do you think that's similar to Arizona hot? Several years ago, I went to Arizona a few times for work, and in April, the temperature was already gettin
up to the mid-90s. I've heard actual summers in Arizona are pretty hot (often
above 100-110+), where they recommend you stay inside and not go outside for extended lengths of time. I don't think that's the kind of weather I'd want t
live in..
Maybe I'm being a bit thick but could you not just throw the ice into the pool water? Or are you planning to sit next to the returned water jet for maximum cooling effect?
I feel like you'd need an ice cube 3 feet squared to make a dent in the water temperature, though, and by the next day it would be warm again :\
help cool the water using the ambiant air, like we saw in Panama.
The cooler is only 5 dollars and ice isn't that expensive. It will be a one and done type situation. Last year we had it under a tree and it stayed cool. Had to constantly clean and vacuum daily. I guess out in the open has it's downfall too with the temperature.
Have a great day
If you don't live in the Southeast, you don't know what hot is.
I can definitely agree with that. Granted, here in WI between Saturday and > today it was in the upper 90s, with the heat index up around 105. So sure, it > has been pretty hot.
However, we went to the Orlando area in June last year for volleyball > nationals when it was 105F all week with like 80% humidity. Fuck that, you > keep that shit.
I think Wisconsin has it pretty good because it doesn't even get cold here anymore and everything's mild.
this recent heat wave was real nasty.
i think the only way to cool a pool is to have a unit that pumps out the water, cools it and then returns it. even people that have these units say they don't work wonders.
I used to go to virginia every year and hit that whole region for vacationing. DC too.

Yep... Virginia can be very uncomfortable in the summer on days like today when the humidity is up. I grew up near Richmond and live about 5 miles north now.

It's a small pool, only 12 feet round. I'm hoping it will have some cooling effect. My wife is thinkng of buying a shade cloth and some misters that help cool the water using the ambiant air, like we saw in Panama.

I'm just trying to cool the water temp a couple of degrees. I'm willing to invest a couple of dollars to experiment. even if i just lay a couple of bag

Ah, OK. I was imagining something bigger and set into a stone patio which would be sucking heat up from the ground all day. I take back my skepticism :)

Hope it works out, or at least you have some fun trying!
My pool has one of those 'airator' things, where it just sprays the water out of a little plastic spout that spreads it out and back into the pool while the pump is on. I can really feel the difference in temperature when I run the pump with that turned on. In fact, since my pool is fairly deep, I
Just installed a spray fountain this morning. We'll see if there is any noticable change in water temp.
