    The Outwest BBS is an
    online bulletin board system (BBS) that was originally active in the 1990s and was later revived by its original system operator Denn Gray (SysOp).
    the 1990's Outwest BBS had 1 node, the 2015 Outwest BBS has 15 telnet nodes.
    History and development:

    Original BBS (1992-1997): The Outwest BBS first operated using PCBoard 14.x later upgraded to 15.1 software.
    Modern revival (2015-to present): In 2015, SysOp Denn Gray relaunched the Outwest BBS, running it on Windows 7 and an HP Thin Client with Synchronet 3.17 BBS software. It has since been upgraded to Synchronet 3.19 ver.

    Side projects: Gray is also known for other projects, including authoring the BBSBASE 6.0 Database program used to keep loacal BBS listings that could then be printed or saved as an ascii text file to upload to other BBS's. and can be found on many shareware CD's of the 1990's and BBSes BBSBAS6R.ZIP.

    Denn Gray also authered the BBSLink drop down menu for Synchronets Web v4. as well as the Arcade drop down menu for Web v4, the Arcade menu lets a Sysop add embed browser games to their Web v4 webpage.

    Current status and features:

    Access: The Outwest BBS is a Telnet BBS, which means it can be accessed using a Telnet client over the internet.
    the Outwest BBS also has it's own webpage, outwest.synchro.net.
    The Outwest BBS is also part of the DoveNet multi BBS messaging system.
    The Outwest BBS is also part of the BBSLink game network.
    Platform: It runs on the Synchronet 3.19 software package, which allows for modern features on a retro platform.

    Community: The BBS is part of the broader BBS enthusiast community, and the sysop has participated in discussions on running BBSes on modern hardware, like the Raspberry Pi.
